Website chat and forms

In every planOwners only

Owners put DVT's chat bubble on the business's website and send its forms into DVT, so every website enquiry lands in the inbox.

The chat widget

  1. In Website → Chat widget, copy the one line of code.
  2. Paste it on every page of your website, just before </body>, or into your site builder's “custom code” or “footer scripts” setting.
  3. Add your website's address under Websites it may appear on, one per line (up to 20). www. and other subdomains are included. Until then, it only shows on the test page.
  4. Choose Try it on a test page to see it working.

Set its color, greeting and away message there too, and your business hours, or Always open.

  • Outside your hours, visitors see the away message and leave their email or phone. Their chats still come in.
  • Every visit is a fresh conversation: a visitor never sees anyone else's chat.
  • If a visitor leaves before reading your reply, it's emailed to them after 2 minutes (if they gave an email).
  • To remove “Powered by DVT”, ask DVT.

Forms

DVT connects to the forms you already have. In Website → Forms, make a form: give it a name, tags to add to people who fill it in, and a thank-you page if you have one. DVT gives it a private address. Treat it like a password.

Then connect your form. The form's page has the steps for each:

  • A plain HTML form: set its action to the address. There's an example to copy.
  • WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Jotform and other builders: paste the address into the builder's webhook setting.
  • n8n and similar tools: send it from an HTTP Request step.

Each submission adds or finds the contact, adds the form's tags, saves their answers as a note and starts a “Form” conversation in the inbox. It can also open a deal and start a workflow. The last 25 submissions show on the form's page.

Fields like email and first_name are recognized by themselves. If one doesn't come through, use Field matching on the form's page. Spam is filtered out with a hidden field that only bots fill in.

Common questions

The chat bubble doesn't show on my website.

Add your website's address under "Websites it may appear on" in Website → Chat widget (www. and other subdomains are included), make sure "Widget switched on" is ticked, and check the code is on every page, just before </body> or in your site builder's footer code setting.

Can I build a form in DVT?Coming soon

Not yet. Today you connect the form you already have (a plain HTML form, WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Jotform and others) to the form address DVT gives you, and its answers come into DVT.

Vote for it on the ideas board so we know how much you want it.

Some form fields aren't coming through.

Open the form in Website → Forms and use Field matching to tell DVT which of your fields is the name, email, phone and so on. Common names like email and first_name are matched by themselves.

How do I collect permission to text people from my form?

Add a checkbox named consent (or sms_consent or opt_in) to your form, and paste the words next to that checkbox into the form's Consent wording in DVT. People who tick it can be texted.

Can I remove "Powered by DVT"?

Ask DVT: it can be switched off for your workspace.
