Payments

In every plan

Get paid by card through your own Stripe account: one-off payment requests, invoices and subscriptions, all tied to the customer in DVT. The money goes straight to you.

Connecting Stripe

  1. An owner goes to Settings → Connections and chooses to connect Stripe.
  2. Sign in to your Stripe account on Stripe's page, or make one there.
  3. You're back in DVT, ready to take payments.

DVT doesn't take a cut. Stripe charges its usual card fees on your Stripe account. One Stripe account can be connected to one DVT workspace.

Payment requests

From Payments → Payment requests, a contact's page or a deal, request an amount (at least $0.50) or one of your products. Email it to them, or just make the link and share it however you like (the DVT phone app, coming soon, will text it too). Your customer pays by card on a secure Stripe page with your logo and color, and DVT marks it paid as soon as Stripe confirms.

A request stays payable until it's paid or you cancel it. A paid request can't be cancelled.

Invoices

Send an invoice of up to 10 lines, due in up to 90 days. Stripe emails it to the customer, so they need an email address. They pay online, and it shows as paid in DVT.

Subscriptions and setup fees

Anyone on the team can start a subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly) for a customer, either:

  • a sign-up link they pay by card, charged automatically each period after, or
  • an invoice Stripe emails them every period.

A subscription can have a one-time setup fee, charged with the first payment only. Owners can cancel a subscription now or at the end of the period that's been paid for.

Products

Owners add and change products and their prices under Payments → Products, including a usual setup fee for subscriptions. Products are what you pick from when requesting a payment or selling at the register.

Keeping track

  • Payments → Activity lists every payment, and each one shows on its customer's contact page.
  • Switch on Payment problems under Settings → Notifications for an email when a payment fails or is disputed, or a subscription is cancelled.
  • Appointment types can take a payment or deposit when people book (see Calendar and booking).

Common questions

Does DVT take a cut of my payments?

No. Payments go straight to your own Stripe account, and DVT doesn't add a fee. Stripe charges its usual card fees on your Stripe account.

How do I refund a payment?Coming soon

For payment links, invoices and subscriptions, refund in your Stripe dashboard for now. Point of sale refunds are done in DVT by an owner, and booking payments are refunded automatically when your team cancels.

Vote for it on the ideas board so we know how much you want it.

Can I charge a setup fee with a subscription?

Yes. A setup fee is charged once, with the first payment. Owners give a product its usual fee under Payments → Products, and you can change it or leave it off each time.

How do I cancel a customer's subscription?

Owners: open it under Payments → Subscriptions and cancel it now, or at the end of the period they've paid for.

Can I be told when a payment fails?

Yes. Switch on Payment problems under Settings → Notifications to get an email when a payment fails or is disputed, or a subscription is cancelled.
